How can you Stop Enamel Erosion?

Posted on 8/15/2015 by Tom Bierman
A large pack of soda cans that damage your teeth enamel.Enamel erosion can be a real problem, especially when it becomes obvious when you smile or talk. If you suddenly are afraid to smile or talk with ease, your self-esteem and mental health could suffer.

Rather than dealing with the risks of becoming isolated due to the embarrassment of your teeth, learn the ways that you can stop enamel erosion in its tracks.

•  Properly brush and floss your teeth at least twice a day to eliminate any acids that remain in your mouth that will begin to harm the enamel.
•  Only consume acidic food or drink when you are having a complete meal. This is when your saliva production is the highest, which gives the acid the best chance at being washed away from your mouth rather than left to sit on your enamel, causing damage.
•  Choose water rather than juice, sports drinks, or soda as they all contain enough acid to do serious damage to your enamel in the long run.
•  If you consumed anything remotely acidic, wait at least 30 minutes before brushing your teeth. This is the amount of time your mouth needs to restore its natural pH level. If you brush while your mouth is acidic, you run the risk of wearing the enamel down even further.
•  Choose healthy foods rather than processed, sugary, carb-filled foods. The healthy foods will provide your mouth with the vitamins necessary for optimal health.
