Root Canal Therapy

 Endodontic Therapy, commonly known as Root Canals, is a dental procedure to save a tooth that has become infected and may otherwise require extraction. There are various reasons for needing a Root Canal, the tooth may be damaged due to cavities, cracks or fractures, crowns, large fillings, or extreme wear due to grinding or clenching. What we do at our San Diego office is remove the pulp, nerves and any decay. Our dentists, Dr. Bierman, Dr. Ma or Dr. Summerhays will then fill the empty space inside the root and tooth with medicated filler restoring the now weakened tooth which may require a Dental Crown.
If you ignored an infection with your tooth other problems including an abscess or the death of the tooth could occur. Once the tooth has died, it will have to be removed.

Root Canal Therapy does weaken the natural structure of your tooth. Placing a crown or cap may be necessary. Our dental team will determine the best route for you.
Root Canal Dentists
Root Canal procedures are performed in our San Diego office. At times the tooth requiring treatment has a complex root or the infection is such that it needs a specialist to examine and complete root canal therapy. Dr. Ma, Dr. Bierman and Dr. Summerhay can all work closely with you, and if necessary, an endodontic specialist to review your treatment case, send necessary records to their office, and place the crown restoration after your root canal is completed. Our office staff will help coordinate your appointments, and help you understand your financial responsibility.
