At San Diego Dental Studio, we use digital x-rays which are an incredible tool. Many patients remember the old system, and the chatter of radiation fears. Digital has taken the radiation fears, the wait for the slides, and the tiny, barely visible images away. As our primary tool for early identification of dental problems, Digital X-rays are entirely different. They use considerably less radiation, up to 70% less, and they take high resolution images that you are able to view instantly on the computer screen next to our dental chairs. We use these images to detect issues with before they become problems, and this will save you money and more extensive, expensive procedures or surgeries.

Intra-Oral Camera An intra-oral camera allows you, the patient, to see what the dentist sees. By inserting a camera the size of a toothbrush in your oral cavity, our Dentists, Dr. Bierman, Dr. Ma, and Dr. Summerhays, are able to show you areas for discussion. You are able to view decay, fractured teeth, broken fillings, and other dental problems allowing us to discuss any treatment needed.
iTero® The iTero is a modern and more efficient way to take impressions of your teeth. With this digital scan, we create a virtual map of your mouth. This scanner allows our dentists to take a highly accurate, 3D image of each tooth, the surface and the gum tissue. We are able to achieve precise imagery, without sticking putty-filled trays to get an impression that makes you uncomfortable.
VELscope®The VELscope is an Oral Assessment System that we use to screen for Oral Cancer. It helps us look for unusual growths, lesions and inflammations.
 It's simple and quick to use, non-invasive, early discovery is always key.
UltraSonic Scalers Ultrasonic scalers are used for most adult dental cleanings.
Using ultrasonic vibrations and microscopic bubbles, we are able to help break down the plaque and calculus on the teeth, preventing any current gingivitis or periodontal progression.

After cleaning with the ultrasonic cleaner, we will hand scale to check for any residual deposits and then polished.
 CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take precise digital imagery of areas needing restoration and produce the appropriate restoration on the spot.
With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration completed in just one visit. We will design and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. You no longer need to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the laboratory to fabricate your crown.
CEREC can be used for a full range of single-unit indications: inlays, onlays, partial crowns, posterior crowns, anterior crowns and veneers. |
